This is Javanese coffee in a mug from a Starbucks from somewhere in East Java (all courtesy of my brother and his family who are visiting the states this summer).

The coffee is pretty good — better than the "Javanese" coffee we can get here.

    I’ve always wondered why coffee from an Indonesian island gave its name to diner coffee in the United States. Was there a time when a lot of the coffee was coming from there?

    I mean, I like Java coffee, but ….

    @Qole: I think so. For coffee to be known so commonly as "java," I’d say that a _lot_ of coffee used to come from there.
